We are looking for current volunteers interested in taking part in our brand new pilot project called IDEA’s
The project will support families with children up to the age of 8 years old who struggle to engage with their children’s learning and have limited play opportunities. The aim is to help families develop creative indoor activities and access outdoor space with their children.
Volunteers will be asked to attend a training day on the 18th May 2017, here at The Home-Start Wirral Hub. This will be followed by four group sessions, where they will support parents and their children, implementing what they have learnt.

Staff and volunteers had a fantastic time on Friday 2nd December at Mayer Hall in Bebington.
This years ‘Volunteer Christmas Event’ was a tremendous success, giving us a chance to thank all our volunteers for their hard work throughout the year.
Without their continued efforts and support, Home-Start Wirral would not be able to continue supporting so many families within Wirral, and having a positive influence on so many young lives.
This years celebration was a little special, Home-Start Wirral having recently achieved the prestigious accolade of the ‘Investing In Volunteers’ award.
The event gave Mayor of Wirral Cllr Pat Hackett and Mayoress Mrs Elaine Hackett an opportunity to formally present Home-Start Wirral with the award. They were also joined by speakers Julia Hassall, Director of Children’s Services and Fiona Johnson, Director of Public Health, whose attendance contributed to making the occasion one to remember.
Volunteers were greeted with welcome drinks and treated to a selection of delicious sandwiches and fancy cakes. The renovated and refurbished Mayer Hall was the perfect venue for this years celebration, the ideal setting to chat with Home-Start Wirral staff and volunteers you may not have seen for a while. Generously donated raffle prizes also meant that volunteers went home with some lovely prizes that kept the fun and excitement of the afternoon going right to the very end.
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend and we hoped you enjoyed yourself.
We would like to take the opportunity to wish everyone involved with Home-Start Wirral a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New year.
An amazing number of people put their healthy eating and diets aside to indulge a fantastic array of cakes and biscuits generously donated by volunteers and staff.
An enticing display of stalls, along with some very gererous raffle prizes, enabled us to raise a whopping £661!
If that was not enough, a staggering £250 was also raised by signing up visitors to our 50/50 club! If you havn’t joined yourself, click here for more information or give the office a ring. Find out what your are missing out on!
A special Home-Start Wirral thankyou for the following individuals and businesses that made the day such a success:
Cafe cream, New Brighton
Sara Forfar & Mandy Edwards – Homestart charity shop
Despite recent challenging times, Home-Start Wirral continues to provide much needed support to local families.
Offering crucial support to families going through difficult times since January 2000, Home-Start Wirral started off with their core home visiting family support, growing and diversifying into breastfeeding support, new family support, school readiness projects, along with a whole range of different groups at the ‘Home-Start Hub’.
Home-Start is the largest family support organisation in the UK. From small beginnings, Home-Start Wirral has grown to be one of the largest Home-Starts in the country. 1,253 volunteers have supported 8,171 families and 10,185 children over the last fifteen years.
