From the 1st of April we have had cuts to some of our funding streams.
As an organisation we have worked tirelessly throughout the year to secure funding but have been unsuccessful. It has been an extremely difficult and worrying time; we have tried our best to limit the impact this would have on families. Unfortunately the cuts will mean a reduction in the number of ‘Little Bees’ groups we are able to offer. The group supports young children with social and communication difficulties, providing vital early intervention and enables parents to receive respite and peer support.
If you are interested in raising funds for our groups please contact the Hub on 0151 608 8288
Quotes from parents
‘this group is a lifeline to my family and we can’t imagine not coming every week’
‘The support provided by Home-Start Wirral came at a time when I was sinking with the pressure of coping with my son’s behaviour and communication difficulties. I do not know where we would be without the Little bees group. To think future children and parents will be unable to access this support is heartbreaking’
‘I am so thankful for the support Home-Start Wirral have given to my child and family. I am praying funding is secured in the future so that families like mine can get the right support to enable their child to achieve’
‘This group is so important to me, the opportunity to meet other families and speak about my concerns has helped me so much. We will really miss everything about the group’
We are looking for current volunteers interested in taking part in our brand new pilot project called IDEA’s
The project will support families with children up to the age of 8 years old who struggle to engage with their children’s learning and have limited play opportunities. The aim is to help families develop creative indoor activities and access outdoor space with their children.
Volunteers will be asked to attend a training day on the 18th May 2017, here at The Home-Start Wirral Hub. This will be followed by four group sessions, where they will support parents and their children, implementing what they have learnt.
If you are interested give us a ring on:

Home-Start Wirral are always looking for new opportunities to raise funds to continue their important work supporting Wirral families.
We have an opportunity to run a ‘pop up’ charity shop at 29 Seaview Road, Wallasey, CH45 4QN. We have the premises and the stock, but we are short of enough volunteers to make the most of this opportunity.
You don’t have to be a current Home-Start volunteer, so please get in touch if you think you could help.
Home-Start Wirral last had a ‘Quality Assurance Review’ in 2012, so the 7th February 2017 was an ideal opportunity to demonstrate its continued good practice and compliance to the Home-Start QA system.
The ‘Quality Assurance Review’ is a rigorous internal audit, consisting of a one day visit by a QA Specialist from Home-Start UK, who assesses the scheme using information gathered on the day and self-assessment data provided by the scheme.
Supporting documentation is gathered by:
Spot checking of Trustee, Staff, Volunteer and Family files
Spot checking of any other electronic or manual files/record keeping systems
Face to Face interviews with the Chair and Senior worker within the scheme
Discussion with other staff
Mandatory indicators are reviewed by the QA Specialist. Key and Developmental indicators are reviewed by the scheme’s self-assessments, from which the report is formulated.
By achieving 100% of the mandatory indicators at the initial review, we are proud to announce that Home-Start Wirral’s scheme has been accredited, and we have been issued with our new certificate.
